History

The question we get asked the most is "How did this all get started?" Here is our best version of how what we do now came to be!

..The Pittsburgh Steeline was founded in 2012 by a group of local drummers with the goal of creating an official drumline for the Pittsburgh Steelers. After a lot of hard work, determination, and a few lucky breaks, the Steeline was able to perform independently in the parking lots and open areas around Heinz Field for most Steelers games during the 2012 season, as well as 2 games directly for the team inside of Heinz Field during Steelers games. Our first game ever was August 30th, 2012, a pre-season game vs. the Carolina Panthers. It was then that we knew that we had something truly special in the works!

After a year of hard work, networking, and relentless efforts to improve our musical product, the Steeline was brought on by the Steelers as the official drumline of the team beginning with the 2013 season, performing before, during, and after all Steelers home games, as well as special events like Steelers training camp, Steelers pep rallies, and more. We started off in 2013 playing in bleachers in the Southwest Endzone during games, as well as our typical pre-game tailgate performance duties. In 2014, we began performing on the field during Steelers games, in the Northwest Endzone of Heinz Field.

As we begin our 2017 season, we are coming off of one of our busiest years ever in 2016, having had nearly 60 public appearances. We performed all over Western PA, including some out of state events in West Virginia and Ohio. 2017 also began with one of our most unique performances ever: the opportunity to perform at the NHL Stadium Series game at Heinz Field between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers in February, as well as a 2nd performance in the Penguins Stanley Cup Victory Parade on June 14th, 2017.

With lots of great new music, a highly improved leadership team with a selfless and dedicated vision towards continued success, and a great crew of talented musicians, we're excited to continue to do what we do best: play drums and get fans excited about Steelers football!
