History

A question we often get asked by people we meet is "How did this all get started?" Here is how what we do now came to be!

..The Pittsburgh Steeline was founded in 2012 by a group of local drummers with the goal of creating an official drumline for the Pittsburgh Steelers. The start of the Steeline certainly did not happen by accident. On the contrary, it was a result of months of meticulous stragetic planning, hard work, determination, and a few lucky breaks. After reaching out to the Steelers organization on our own, we were fortunate enough to be invited by the team to perform at a game! Our first game ever was August 30th, 2012, a pre-season game vs. the Carolina Panthers. It was then that we knew that we had something truly special in the works! We continued to perform in the tailgate parking lots around Heinz Field before Steelers games on our own throughout the 2012 season, meeting fans, getting the attention of Steelers Nation, and doing what we could to create a positive experience for all! We played inside of Heinz Field for the Steelers at a 2nd game in December of 2012 to finish out the season.

After this year of hard work, networking, problem-solving, and relentless efforts to improve our musical product, the Steeline was brought on by the Steelers as the official drumline of the team beginning with the 2013 season, performing before, during, and after all Steelers home games, as well as special events like Steelers training camp, Steelers pep rallies, and more. We started off in 2013 playing in bleachers in the Southwest Endzone during games, as well as our typical pre-game tailgate performance duties. In 2014, we began performing on the field during Steelers games, in the Northwest Endzone of Heinz Field.

Over the years, our organization has grown tremendously. The Steeline averages between 50 and 60 performances each year, including Steelers home games, and regularly performs at weddings, birthdays, corporate events, community events, charity events, parades, and a whole host of other types of places where people gather and want to show their love of Pittsburgh and the Steelers.

With lots of great music and energy, a strong leadership team, and a great crew of talented musicians, we're excited to continue to do what we do best: play drums and get fans excited about Steelers football!
